  4. - Reworked the Preferences again.  Now there are alot of Prefs and its
  5.   easier to get around.  Also added the User ID and Password for users
  6.   who have to login.  This features is now working yet as I'm not too
  7.   on how to implement this.  Waiting for the docs.

  9.   Also the external editor/reader is not yet working.  Will be in the
  10.   next release.
  11.   
  12.   Also note that some features in the preferences do not work yet
  13.   althought you can set them.
  14.   
  15. - Added Filters.  If you are a Air Mail supporter this is no surprise
  16.   since its indentical to Air Mail's filters except a small change.
  17.   The next release will have filter on the number of lines.  The Others
  18.   filter is not working and probably will be remove or replaced with the
  19.   Line filter.

  21. - Added Folders.  You can now create unlimited number of folders to store
  22.   articles.  Folders are stored in the Incoming directory.  When you
  23.   setup a filter you can tell World News to store the article in the
  24.   specified folder.  You can also Save or File selected articles to
  25.   any folder.  The only place you can do this right now is then Article
  26.   header window.

  28.   If you intend to store filtered articles its wise to create the folder
  29.   first before configuring the filters.

  31.   In the Article header window you can select one or more articles
  32.   by drag select or shift select selected articles and then click
  33.   the File button and then select the Folder to file to.

  35. Offline Reading?

  38. Yes! V0.75 has offline reading.  This is the first step towards a complete
  39. offline reader.  When you file or filter articles into the folder you can
  40. read them later on.
  41.  
  42. To read articles from the Folder select the Folder menu item and select
  43. a folder to open.  The article header window will be opened.  This is
  44. the same as retriving article headers online.  The Next and Prev button
  45. doesn't work yet.  World News will load all the articles in the folder.
  46. The future version will retrive only upto the max. articles specified
  47. in the prefs.

  49. When you reply or post while offline World News will queued them in the
  50. outgoing directory and when you are online World News will post them
  51. automatically.  For this to work you will need to check the flag in the
  52. Options pref to check for queued articles on startup.

  58. - Please reconfigure your preferences.  If you don't then unexpected
  59.   results will happen.  Don't say I didn't warn you.

  61. - Reworked the Preferences an added two news tabs:

  63.   Colors - This tab lets you select the color for read and unread
  64.            articles.  Note that some colors are not available because
  65.            they don't seem to work in the listview. Colors that works
  66.            are: White, Black, Blue and Gray.

  68.            Article Head and Article Body not yet working.

  70.   Articles - You can now tell World News to retrieve only new articles.
  71.              New articles are the ones you haven't read yet.  If you
  72.              haven't setup the colors for read/unread then you won't
  73.              be able to tell which articles are read/unread.  Set up
  74.              your colors now.

  76.            - Also added is the ablility to save the starting article
  77.              for the last retrieved page.  When you close the news group
  78.              and come back to it later, World News will start retriving
  79.              article headers from the last saved position.

  81. - The date and time for getting NEW news groups is now saved in the prefs.
  82.   It will always default to the last retrived date and time.
  83.   
  84. - Maximum number of articles to retrieve at a time is now set to 5000
  85.   instead of 100 in v.06

  87. - The stupid message about not finding the terminated chars is now gone.
  88.   It was just a warning message.

  90. Things you should know
  91. ----------------------

  93. 1. If for any reasons World News is stuck on retriving an article or any
  94.    data.  The only way to quit is set TCP/IP offline and then reconnect
  95.    again.  The cause could be that the socket has been lost or that
  96.    its having problem communicating with the server.
  97.    
  98. 2. If you find World News to be slow then there isn't much I can do but
  99.    I thought you should know what World News is doing.
  100.    
  101.    - Each window listing article headers has its own socket connection.
  102.      And it takes a few seconds to connect when you open the group for
  103.      article headings. 
  104.    
  105.    - It uses RAM alot since its getting alot of headers and scanning for
  106.      keywords such as Subject, Date etc... It doesn chew up ram but it
  107.      uses for speed.
  108.      
  109.    - Due to MUI you will find that it is very slow when you open alot
  110.      of windows.  Especailly with Miami.  Try running your apps in
  111.      lower screen depths.
  112.      
  113. World News 0.7 has never been crashed yet so far.  Here is my configuration.

  124.   get the entire news group again.

  127.   close all the article and group windows then reopen the group.  I'll
  128.   try to find what the heck is causing this bug.

  157. - Export function now works while you are reading the article.  The Export
  158.   function exports the current article to Air Mail's Inbox.  If you don't
  159.   have Air Mail installed then this will not work. You can then use Air Mail
  160.   to read and reply to the article.  Cool!

  169. - When retrieving an article that contains uuencoded or MIME files, WNews
  170.   when automatically decode and execute the file.  You will need to check
  171.   the Execute program after retrieve in the pref.

  173. - Fixed the problem with garbage news group names.  You will need to reload
  174.   the entire news group.  Sorry!!
  175.   
  176. - Added the queue articles.  Articles that are queued in the posting directory
  177.   will get posted during startup if you check the 'Check Queued Article'
